Former President Trump on Thursday knocked Michigan state lawmakers for their hesitancy to conduct a forensic audit of the November 2020 election.
In the statement, Trump highlighted the support for the audit from voters throughout the state.
“Why are RINOs standing in the way of a full Forensic Audit in Michigan? The voters are demanding it because they have no confidence in their elections after the Rigged 2020 Presidential Election Scam. Michigan’s Republican State Legislators should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this horrible situation to happen,” Trump said in the statement.
Furthermore, Trump specifically pointed to State Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey (R-Clarklake) and Senate Senator Ed McBroom (R-Vulcan) for the lack of action.
“In particular, the incompetent RINO Majority Leader, Mike Shirkey, and Senator Ed McBroom. Maybe McBroom is really a Democrat who could not otherwise get elected in Northern Michigan. Our great Michigan voters will not stand for Republican Senators not to act on the Crime of the Century!” Trump continued.
Previously, the Michigan Conservative Coalition demanded that the Republican-controlled state Senate conduct an audit of the 2020 election.
Additionally, the group delivered over 7,000 notarized affidavits requesting the action.
However, lawmakers have remained hesitant.
“To ever have confidence in our election system, we need to know what actually happened in 2020. We need to know how to prevent it in the future, Through this affidavit process, thousands of Michigan voters are demanding a forensic audit of the 2020 Michigan election. It will be up to our elected officials to either hear or continue to ignore the voices of the people of their state,” Marian Sheridan, co-founder of the group said.
States across the country are following the lead of state lawmakers in Arizona. The legislators are currently wrapping up an audit of more than 2.1 million ballots in Maricopa County.
Most recently, state legislators in Wisconsin issued subpoenas for materials related to an audit of two counties that have been the source of concern among voters in the state.
